India's tea production is expected to decline by 9% in 2020 due to blockade orders that stop the plantation. When the blockade order in India was relaxed, tea gardens were only operating at around 50% of their capacity compared to before the outbreak.
 
According to the International Tea Commission, India's tea exports are forecast to decline by 7% by 2020. Notably, Kenya's tea harvest is not significantly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and its tea production is expected to increase by 15% in 2020. Vietnam's tea production is not expected to be affected much. However, Vietnam's tea production only accounts for a small proportion in the global market.
